Connecting to SMART Sync Class ListServer

(document144150),you can connect SMART Sync Teacher to it to do one of the
following:
lMaintaininformationabout yours chool’sstudents, teachers, classes and
computerlabs, as well as rules you can apply to block student access to
applicationsand websites, in a central locationt hat’s accessible to multiple
teachersin your school.
lAllows tudentst o connectt o you by selecting yourI D from a drop-downlist in
SMART Sync Studentw henyou’re loggedon to SMART Sync Teacher. (This
featureis referredto as “teacherdiscovery.”)

lIf you use SMART Sync Class List Serverfor the first option, you or your
system administratormust install SMAR T Sync Administrator Tooland
createa SMART School file. I f you use SMART Sync C lass List Server for
thesecond option, you don’t needto complete those additionalsteps.
lIf multicasting is enabledon your school’s network, teacher discovery is
availableby default. You don’tneed to use SMART Sy nc Class List Server
toallow teacher discovery in this sit uation.

1. SelectOptions > Preferences.
ThePreferencesdialog box appears.
2. Click the Generaltab.
3. Selectthe Use Class List Serverc heckbox.
4. SelectTo use administered class lists.
5. Click Browse.
