Command Usage

When SSID broadcast is disabled, the access point will not include its SSID in beacon messages. Nor will it respond to probe requests from clients that do not include a fixed SSID.

Example

SMC-AP(if-wireless g)#no ssid-broadcast

SMC-AP(if-wireless g)#

Command Usage

The maximum transmission distance is affected by the data rate. The lower the data rate, the longer the transmission distance. Please refer to the table for maximum distances on page A-4.

When turbo mode is enabled (page 6-78) for 802.11a, the effective maximum speed specified by this command is double the entered value (e.g., setting the speed to 54 Mbps limits the effective maximum speed to 108 Mbps).
