Clearingthe buffer

When DIP switch 2-1 is ON, the printer stores received data in a large memorybuffer.Thiscreatesaproblemwhenyouwantto abandona printing job and restart:theprintermay beholdingmuchmoredatain its bufferthan it has actuallyprinted,and this unprinteddata must be cleared out before restaffing.Turning power off is one way to clear the buffer, but there is anotherway:

1.Halt the printingprogramon the computer.If printing stops immedi- ately,the bufferis clearandthe rest of this procedureis unnecessary.If printingdoes not stop,continueas follows:

2.Press the ( ONLINE ) buttonto set the printeroff-line.Printingwill now stop, but there may be data remainingin the buffer.

3.Press and hold the ( ONLINE ) button.

4.Press and hold the (~) button.Continueholdingthese two buttons down.In aboutthreesecondsyouwillheara beeptonesignalingthatthe buffer has been cleared.

5.Releasethesebuttons,make any necessarycontrolpanel settings,then set the printerback on-line.

It isessentialto halttheprintingprogramon thecomputerbeforeyougo off- line. Otherwise,when you go back on-linethe computerwill start sending dataagainandtheprinterwillcontinueprinting,withmissingdatawherethe buffer was cleared.
