Enabling and Configuring Console Redirection Via COM1

To activate console redirection via COM1, you must configure the following settings:

1Connect the serial cable to the serial port and host system. See Figure 1-1 for the location of the serial port on the sled.

2Press <F2> immediately after a power-on or reboot to enter System Setup.

3In the System Setup screen, select the Server menu and press <Enter>.

4In the Server screen, select Remote Access Configuration and press <Enter>.

5In the Remote Access Configuration screen, verify the following settings:

Remote Access: Enabled

Serial port number: COM1

Serial Port Mode: 115200 8,n,1

Flow Control: None

Redirection After BIOS POST: Always

Terminal Type: ANSI

See "Remote Access Configuration" on page 86 for details. Make sure the last four options syncs with the host and client.

6Press <Esc> to return to the System Setup screen. Press <Esc> again, and a message prompts you to save the changes.

Enabling and Configuring Console Redirection Via COM2 SOL

To activate console redirection via COM2 SOL, you must configure the following settings:

1Connect the serial cable to the serial port and host system. See Figure 1-1 for the location of the serial port on the sled.

2Press <F2> immediately after a power-on or reboot to enter System Setup.

3In the System Setup screen, select the Server menu and press <Enter>.

4In the Server screen, select Remote Access Configuration and press <Enter>.
