Removing a Sled
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. CAUTION: To ensure proper airflow in the system, if a module is removed it should be immediately replaced with another sled or sled blank.
CAUTION: Operating the system for extended periods of time without a sled blank installed can cause the PowerEdge C8000 server enclosure to overheat.

1Power down the sled using OS commands or the Baseboard Management Controller, and ensure that the sled's power is off.
When a sled is powered off, its
2Pull up on the compute sled release latch at the bottom of the sled to disengage the sled from the server enclosure. See Figure
