Multiple Subscriber Numbering
Assigning Primary and Secondary Numbers to the Phone Ports
To assign primary and secondary numbers to the phone ports, use the Configuration Tool’s
Phone Port 1 or Phone Port 2 panels. The primary numbers from each Phone Port tab will be
used in other panels (the ‘Call Routing’ setting in the ‘Advanced’ tab for example) and will
also be answered by the Data port if a data call comes in. The secondary numbers are
answered exclusively by the phone ports.
Secondary Phone Port Numbers and Distinctive Ring
If you enter a number in the ‘Second Number’ field at the bottom of either Phone Port
panels, the DIVAT/A automatically enables distinctive ringing for that number, i.e., if a call is
placed to the second number, the telephone ring will be different from the regular ring. This
allows you to determine which number was dialed by the calling party. You can switch the
distinctive ring from the secondary number to the first by enabling the ‘Switch Distinctive
Ring’ option located in the Phone Port tabs.
Use of secondary numbers and TeleDanmark’s Duet service
TeleDanmark’s Duet service offers, as a package, a mobile phone number along with ISDN
basic access and three directory numbers. With this service, if the mobile phone is switched
off, calls placed to the mobile phone number are automatically forwarded to a specific
directory number as assigned by TeleDanmark.
To make use of this service with the DIVAT/A, you would enter this ‘mobile forwarding’
number in the secondary number field in order to receive the forwarded calls.
For example, suppose you are assigned three directory numbers: 555-1111 (which you will
use for the telephone), 555-2222 (which you will use for fax), and 555-3333 (your mo bile
forwarding number). You connect your telephone to phone port 1 and your fax machine to
phone port 2. To configure this on the DIVAT/A, you would:
