The DIVA Terminal Adapters Program for Macintosh

Protocol Tab

The Protocol tab lets you choose the protocol settings for your ISDN line.

By default, 'PPP' is enabled. Both ‘PPP’ and ‘Multilink PPP’ require that a PPP communications stack be installed on your computer. Note that the protocol you choose must match the protocol on the receiving system.

About the Protocol panel

For the ‘Enable Always On / Dynamic ISDN (AO/DI)’ option to be available, the protocol must be set to ‘MultiLink PPP’. Also, AO/DI is only available if you have subscribed to it; check with your ISDN Service Provider.

For the ‘BACP’ tab to be visible (see page 65), the protocol must be set to ‘MultiLink PPP’.

For the ‘X.25’ tab to be visible (see page 68), the ‘Enable Always On / Dynamic ISDN (AO/DI)’ option must be enabled.

About MultiLink PPP

To obtain maximum performance when using the MultiLink PPP protocol, your computer's serial port should be capable of 230.4 kbps transfer. Macintosh computers that have serial ports capable of 230.4 kbps include all PowerMacintosh computers (except for the 52xx, 62xx, and 6300 models) and AV Macintosh computers. Check the user manual that came with your system or consult Apple's technical library at http://til.info.apple.com/.

Multilink PPP does not support the callback feature used by some servers.

When using Multilink PPP for incoming calls, only SPAP or PAP authentication are supported.
