Description

Satellite (WAN) IP

The CiM modem has two network interfaces: the Ethernet interface

Address and Mask

and the Satellite interface. Each of these network interfaces must

be assigned an IP Address. The only requirements on the Satellite

IP Address are: 1) that is must not be on the same subnet as the

Ethernet Interface; 2) it must be on the same subnet as the Satellite

IP address assigned to the CiM modem on the other end of the

satellite link.

Since the only devices communicating on the WAN link are CiM

modems, the Sateliite IP Address can usually be an arbitary

address assigned to many different systems. However, because of

the possibility of conflict with an assigned Ethernet IP or the IP

Address of a defined route, the user can select this value.

HDLC Transmitter State

The Transmitter state reflects the current state of the CiM as a

routing device. This parameter has one of two values:

Enabled

Disabled

When the transmitter state is enabled, the CiM will allow routing of

packets from its Ethernet (LAN) interface to its Satellite (WAN)

interface. When the transmitter state is disabled, the CiM will not

allow routing of any packets over its Satellite (WAN) interface.

HDLC Receiver State

The Receiver state reflects the current state of the CiM as a routing

device. This parameter has one of two values:

Enabled

Disabled

When the Receiver state is enabled, the CiM will allow routing of

packets from its Satellite (WAN) interface to its Ethernet (LAN)

interface. When the Receiver state is disabled, the CiM will not

allow routing of any packets received on its Satellite (WAN)

interface.

Satellite (WAN) Receiver

The CiM allows the user to define up to four (4) different HDLC

HDLC Addresses

Addresses that can cary user information on the Satellite (WAN)

interface.

Remote Port B Baud Rate

Allows the users to configure the baud rate of this port to any one of

the following setting:

4800

9600

19200

Remote Port B Data

Allows the users to configure the character format of this port to any

Format

one of the following setting:

8-N-1

7-E-2

7-O-2

Remote Port B Device

Allows the user to specify the address of the modem when

Address

communicated via the remote port.
