10.2 Error messages – Display
If the unit detects a problem, one or more of the following messages will appear on the display.

10.2.1 Base unit

Display Cause and Solution
BUSYLThe called handset is in use.
LOther users are using the line(s). Wait until {LINE1} or {LINE2}
turns OFF.
LThe handset you tried to copy phone book items to is in use.
LThe handset you are calling is too far from the base unit.
LPrivacy mode is turned ON for the call you tried to join (page 52).
CALL SERVICELThere is something wrong with the unit. Contact our service
personnel.
CHECK DOCUMENTLThe document was not fed into the unit properly. Re-insert the
document. If misfeeding occurs frequently, clean the document
feeder rollers (page 110) and try again.
LAttempted to send a document longer than 600 mm (235/8"). Press
{STOP} to remove the document. Divide the document into two or
more sheets, and try again.
CHECK MEMORYLThe base unit memory (telephone numbers, parameters, etc.) has
been erased. Re-program.
CHECK PAPERLThe recording paper is not installed or the unit has run out of paper.
Install paper and press {START} to clear the message.
LThe recording paper was not fed into the unit properly (page 109).
Reinstall paper (page 17) and press {START} to clear the
message.
LThe recording paper has jammed near the recording paper
entrance. Clear the jammed paper (page 107) and press {START}
to clear the message.
COVER OPEN
CHECK FILM
LThe covers are open. Close them.
LThe ink film is empty. Replace the ink film with a new one (page
16).
LThe ink film is not installed. Install it (page 14).
LThe ink film is slack or creased. Tighten it (see step 5 on page 15).
DENIEDLWhen you tried to monitor an extension, the room monitor feature
of the destination extension was set to OFF (page 53).
FAX IN MEMORYLThe unit has a document in memory. See the other displayed
message instructions to print out the document.
FAX MEMORY FULLLThe memory is full of received documents due to a lack of
recording paper, a lack of ink film or a recording paper jam. Install
paper (page 17), install ink film (page 14) or clear the jammed
paper (page 107).
LWhen performing memory transmission, the document being
stored exceeded the memory capacity of the unit. Send the entire
document manually.
