FAX SIGNAL If you hear a soft fax tone after the machine rings and you answer
RXon the machine’s handset or an extension phone connected to the same line, the machine will automatically begin reception. If
desired, you can turn automatic reception off. Press (YES)
to turn on the the automatic reception function, or (NO) to
| turn off the function. If you select NO, you must start reception | ||||
| manually by pressing START on the machine each time you hear a | ||||
| soft fax tone after answering a call. |

ECM MODE | Press | (YES) to have any distortions in a transmission due to |

noise on the telephone line automatically corrected before printout at the receiving end. This is only effective when the other
machine has ECM as well. Press (NO) to turn off ECM mode. (When there is considerable noise on the line, you may find that ECM slows transmission. Turning off ECM mode may increase transmission speed.)
