Adjust Steering Chain

NOTE: Since the chain and sprocket are subjected to sand thrown up by the front tire, inspect them frequently for wear. If either the chain or sprocket is worn beyond acceptable limits, replace both chain and sprocket.

NOTE: The steering chains on the SP 2020/3020 (Fig.

1)and SP 5020 (Fig. 2) are adjusted in the same man- ner. Newer models of the SP 3020 have a chain guide similar to the SP 5020.

1.Place front wheel in the straight ahead position.

2.Adjust locknuts until the chain is snug on both sides of the sprocket.

3.Turn the steering wheel full left and full right to be sure the chain does not bind or hang up in either direc- tion. Readjust chain as required.
