Foreign Device Interface

The Xerox Foreign Device Interface (FDI) is an interface to third-party access control devices, coin machines and card readers. These can be added to charge for usage. Copy and print services can be set to charge at the foreign device.

Print Job Control enables charging for print jobs. Print jobs sent when it is enabled will be held in the job queue and can be manually released when credits are available at the foreign device.

The services available at the machine can be set using Inhibit Services. Choosing Copy Only will require credits at the foreign device for copying but allow access to other services. Inhibiting All Services will require credits to access any service that requires paper.

This option is only available if a Foreign Interface Device Kit is installed on the machine.
