Review this checklist before you begin loading your Zebra XiIIIPlus printer.

￿Labels Do you have the correct labels for your application? If you are not sure, see Types of Labels on page 24.

￿Ribbon Do you need ribbon?

!Important • The label type determines whether ribbon is needed.

‡￿Direct thermal labels do not need ribbon. Do not load ribbon with direct thermal labels.

‡￿Thermal transfer labels do need ribbon.

This section gives you a series of instructions to load labels and ribbon (if used).

The instructions that follow are for a standard printer in Tear-Off Mode. For a printer with special options, see Labels and Print Modes on page 23. For advanced application instructions, such as how to load different types of labels, or how to choose printing modes, see Front Panel Controls on page 54.

Caution • Be sure the printer is off (O) if you have connected the power cable.
