PROT ECTING STAI NLESS STE EL SURFACES
It is imp ortant to gu ard agains t
corros ion in the ca re of
stainless steel surfaces.
Harsh, c orrosiv e, or
inappropriate chemicals can
comple tely dest roy the
protective surface layer of stainless steel.
Abrasive pads, steel wool, or metal implements
will abrade surfaces causing damage to this
protective coating and will eventually result in
areas of corrosion. Even water, particularly hard
water that contains high to moderate
concentrations of chloride, will cause oxidation
and pitting that result in rust and corrosion. In
addition, many acidic foods spilled and left to
remain on metal surfaces are contributing factors
that will corrode surfaces.
Proper cleaning agents, materials, and
methods are vital to maintaining the appearance
and life of this appliance. Spilled foods should be
removed and the area wiped as soon as possible
but at the very least, a minimum of once a day.
Always thoroughly rinse surfaces after using a
cleaning agent and wipe standing water as quickly
as possible after rinsing.
CLEA NING AGENT S
Use non-abrasive cleaning products designed for
use on stainless steel surfaces. Cleaning agents
must be c hloride- free compo unds and mu st not
contain quaternary salts. Never use hydrochloric
acid (mu riatic ac id) on stai nless stee l surface s.
Always u se the prop er cleanin g agent at th e
manufa cturer' s recommen ded streng th.
Conta ct your loca l cleaning s upplier f or
produc t recommen dations .
CLEA NING MATERI ALS
The clea ning func tion can usu ally be acc omplishe d
with th e proper cle aning agen t and a soft, c lean
cloth. When mor e aggressi ve method s must be
employ ed, use a non -abrasiv e scourin g pad on
diffic ult areas an d make cert ain to scrub w ith the
visible grain of surface metal to avoid surface
scratc hes. Ne ver use wire b rushes, me tal scour ing
pads, o r scrapers t o remove foo d residue.
