Entering a name

Wheneveryou register a fax number or a telephone number, you can assign a name to that number. To

entera name from the operation panel, use the numeric buttons to create alphanumeric characters.

Eachnumeric button has a certain letter group (uppercase and lowercase) plus a digit assigned to it.

Eachpress of the button steps to the next character in the group. To change between uppercase entry

modeand lowercase entry mode, press [ ].

Usethe chart below to determine which number to press for each character:

¶Firstpress the numeric button corresponding to the character you want.

¶Thenpress [ ] to switch to lowercase or uppercase entry mode.

¶Pressthe numeric button repeatedly until the character you want appears in the display.

Forexample, to enter Canon 1:

1Pressthe appropriate numeric button repeatedly until the desired character appears.

2Thenext character is a lowercase, so press [ ]to change the uppercase letter entry mode to the

lowercaseletter entry mode. Then press the numeric button to display the desired character.

3Thenext character is in a different group, so simply press the new group’s numeric button — the

cursormoves automatically. Press the numeric button repeatedly to display the desired character.
