Disabling network protocols (optional)

By factory default, all supported network protocols are enabled.

Disabling unused protocols has the following benefits:

decreases printer-generated network traffic

prevents unauthorized users from printing to the printer

provides only pertinent information on the configuration page

￿allows the printer control panel to display protocol-specific error and warning messages

To reach network protocols

1Press MENU until HP EIO 1 MENU displays.

2Press ITEM until CFG NETWORK=NO * displays.

3Press VALUE until CFG NETWORK=YES displays.

4Press SELECT once. CFG NETWORK=YES * displays.

In the sections that follow, find the protocol that you want to disable.

 

To disable IPX/SPX

 

 

Note

Do not disable this protocol if Windows 95/98 or Windows NT clients

 

will be printing to the printer.

 

 

1Press ITEM until IPX/SPX=ON * appears.

2Press VALUE to change to IPX/SPX=OFF.

3Press SELECT to save the new status. IPX/SPX=OFF * appears.

4To disable another protocol, find the appropriate section.

– OR –

Press GO to return the printer to the READY state.
