Toner smear
There is excess toner on the paper. Reprint the page.
The fusing rollers have excess toner on them. Print 5 to 10 pages to clean the excess toner from the rollers.
The media does not meet HP specifications (see page 67). Use media that meets HP media specifications.
The toner cartridge is defective. Replace the toner cartridge for the color that is smearing.
The fusing assembly is defective. Replace the fuser kit.
There is excess toner in the printer. Print 5 to 10 pages to clear the excess toner, and clean the printer (see page 148).
The transfer roller is not seated correctly. Remove and reseat the transfer roller.
A label or a piece of paper may be stuck to the transfer belt or a roller on the transfer belt. Remove the label or piece of paper.
