Complete
the
following
steps
to
remove
a
microprocessor:
1.
Turn
off
the
server
and
peripheral
devices,
and
disconnect
the
power
cords
and
all
external
cables;
then,
open
the
cover.
2.
Pull
open
the
memory-board
retaining
latches,
and
remove
the
memory-board
assembly.

3.
Remove
the
shipping
thumbscrews
from
the
right
side
of
the
server,
and
lift
the
retention
bracket
from
the
server.
4.
Remove
the
processor-board
assembly
from
the
server,
and
place
it
on
a
static-free,
clean
work
surface.

5.
Remove
the
microprocessor
and
power
module:
Attention:
Failure
to
complete
the
instructions
in
the
prescribed
order
might
cause
damage
to
the
microprocessor
pins
and
cause
the
microprocessor
to
fail.

Using
the
T-handled
Torx
wrench
provided
with
the
microprocessor
FRU,
completely
loosen
the
power-module
screws.
b.
Slide
the
power
module
from
the
microprocessor,
and
remove
the
power
module.
c.
Completely
loosen
the
heat-sink
screws.
d.
Use
the
hex
wrench
provided
with
the
microprocessor
FRU
to
open
the
socket
lock,
and
remove
the
heat
sink
and
microprocessor.

Replace
