Configuring
the
adapter
This
section
describes
how
to
enable
remote
access
to
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
and
install
ASM
device
drivers.
These
procedures
assume
that
you
have
a
keyboard
and
pointing
device
attached
to
the
server.
Enabling
remote
access
to
the
adapter:
The
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
must
be
configured
to
enable
remote
access
through
the
Ethernet
connector
or
the
serial
connector.
Perform
the
configuration
procedure
for
the
interface
method
you
want
to
use.

you

an
accessible,
active,

configured
Dynamic
Host
Configuration
Protocol
(DHCP)
server
on
the
network,

host
name,
IP
address,
gateway
address,
subnet
mask,
and
DNS
server
IP
address
are
set
automatically.
The
default
value
should
have
no
effect
on
whether
you
have
to
do
any
other
configuration.

you
need

configure
the
serial
port,

otherwise,

If
you
do
not
have
a
DHCP
server
on
the
network,
complete
the
following
steps
to
configure
the
Ethernet
settings.

With
the
server
turned
off,
insert
the
CD
containing
the
EFI
Remote
Supervisor
Utility
program
into
the
drive;
then,
turn
on
the
server.
The
utility
starts
automatically,
displaying
the
Remote
Supervisor
Utility
window.
2.
Use
the
Up
Arrow
and
Down
Arrow
keys
(
and
)
to
select
Configuration
Settings;
then,
press
Enter.
The
Configuration
Settings
window
opens.
