Routine Service and Diagnostics 917
Hex Dump Mode
A system problem can be detected by a process of elimination. Run the
selftests beginning with 01.1, by using the procedure on page 910. If the
RDY indicator flashes at the end of the test, the test was successful. If,
however, the RDY indicator does not flash, use one of the Hex dump modes
to help you decode the system interface problem.
To initiate a Hex Dump, do the following:
1. Set Configuration Option 15 to 15.1.
NOTE: Configuration Option 16.3 must be set to enable the Hex dump.
2. Press RDY to place the printer online. The RDY indicator should
remain lit.
3. Send data from the host computer; a Hex dump printout will list each
ASCII character with its corresponding Hex code value. Nonprintable
ASCII characters should also have a corresponding Hex code, including
carriage returns and line feeds. If the Hex dump does not print or is not
accurate, interface problems could exist.
4. To disable the Hex dump, return Configuration Option 15.1 to 15.0 or
cycle the printer power.
