7.2 About Power-On Self-Test (POST)

Diagnostics

The POST diagnostic code resides in ﬂash PROM on the main logic board. The ﬂash

PROM that holds the POST code is known as the OpenBoot PROM (OBP) because it

also holds the OpenBoot Diagnostic code.

POST tests the following system components each time the system is turned on or a

system reset is issued:
