Based on these two constraints , it is not always possible to scan the frame right-side-up . If the frame is scanned backwards or upside-down, software can be used to correct the image after scanning . Since the resultant operation is a 90 or 180 degree flip, it is very fast and causes no image degradation .

Several examples of position ing film in the strip film holder are shown in Figure 4.12.

Care should be taken not to touch the frame portion of the film when loading the film into the holder. It may be desirable to use film handling gloves available at most photo processing or camera stores.

The window in the strip film holder is slightly smaller than the typical 35 mm frame . Position the desired frame so that the holder window properly brackets the frame . Minor rotations or translations of the film in the holder can be accomplished by opening the holder and realigning the strip film .
