Configure a Router as a Callback Server

Beginning in global configuration mode, configure a router as a call back server:

1.Specify the interface and enter interface configuration mode. interface serial number

2.Enable DDR. Set parity on synchronous serial interfaces and asyn- chronous interfaces.

dialer in-band [no-parity odd-parity]

3.Enable PPP encapsulation. encapsulation ppp

4.Enable CHAP or PAP authentication.

ppp authentication {chap pap}

5.Map the next hop address to the host name and phone number, using the name of the map class established for PPP callback on this interface.

dialer map protocol address name hostname class classname dial-string

6.(Optional) Configure a dialer hold queue to store packets to be transferred when the callback connection is established.

dialer hold-queue number timeout seconds

7.(Optional) Configure a timeout period between calls. dialer enable-timeoutseconds

8.Configure the interface to accept PPP callback. ppp callback accept

9.(Optional) Enable callback security, if desired.

dialer callback-secure

10.Return to global configuration mode. exit

11.Configure a dialer map class for PPP callback. map-class dialer classname
