FCC WarningThe Federal Communications Commission has set limits for emitted radio interference. The
AISwitch is constructed with this electromagnetic interference (EMI) limitation in mind. Th
AISwitch is classified under FCC r egulations as a Class A device, that is, a device for use in com-
mercial environments and not in residential areas. This device has been tested and shown to comply
with the following FCC rule: Part 15 Subpart J. Operation of this equipment in a residential are
may cause interference to radio and TV reception, requiring the user to take whatever steps are nec-
essary to correct the interference.
Information is available from the FCC describing possible corrective actions. For lower EMI
levels, we suggest using only metal connectors and shielded cables grounded to the frame.
Electrostatic Discharge WarningWarning: The AISwitch and its peripherals contain electrostatic sensitive components. Proper
handling, shipping, and storage precautions must be exercised:
zRemoval and installation of circuit boards must be performed in a static-free en-
vironment. Tthe technician should wear an a nti-static wrist strap and stand on
an anti-static mat. Both the wrist strap and mat must be grounded at the same
point as the AISwitch enclosure.
zWhen not in use, circuit boards must be kept in their anti-static plastic bags.
zCircuit boards must only be removed from their anti-static plastic bags immedi-
ately prior to installation into the AISwitch enclosure.
zImmediately upon removal from the enclosure, circuit boards must be inserted
into their anti-static bags.
zDo not ship or store the electronic circuit boards near strong electrostatic, elec-
tromagnetic, magnetic, or radioactive fields.
