Configuring a Class Map
A class map is used for matching packets to a specified class.
Command Usage
To configure a Class Map, follow these steps:
- Open the Class Map page, and click Add Clas s.
- When the Class C onfi gurati on page ope ns, fill in the “Cl ass Name ” fie ld , an d
click Add.
- When the Match Class Settings page opens, specify type of traffic for this class
based on an access list, a DSCP or IP Precedence valu e, or a VLAN, a nd cli ck
the Add button next to the field for the selected traffic criteria. You can specify up
to 16 items to match when assigning ing ress tra ffic to a class m ap.
The class map is used with a policy map (page 14 -4) to create a servi ce policy
(page 14-7) for a specific interface that defines packet classification, service
tagging, and bandwidth policin g. Note that one or more clas s maps ca n be
assigned to a policy map.
Command Attributes
Class Map
Modify Name and Description – Configures the name and a b rief des cription of
a class map. (Range: 1-16 characters for the name; 1-6 4 character s for the
description)
Edit Rules – Opens the “Match Class Settings” page fo r the s electe d clas s en try.
Modify the criteria used to classify ingress traffic on this page.
Add Class – Opens the “Class Configuratio n” page. Ente r a class name and
description on this page, and click Add to open the “Match Class Se ttings” page .
Enter the criteria used to classify ingress traffic on this page.
Remove Class – Rem oves th e selected c lass.
Class Configuration
Class Name – Na me of the class map. (Rang e: 1-16 character s)
Type – Only o ne match com mand is pe rmitte d per clas s map, so th e match-a ny
field refers to the criteria specified by the lone match command.
Description – A brief description of a class map. (Range: 1-6 4 characters)
Add – Adds the specifie d class.
Back – Retur ns t o pre vious page with making any chan ges.
Match Class Settings
Class Name – List of class maps.
ACL List – Name of an access control li st. Any type of ACL can b e specifie d,
including standard or extended IP ACLs and MAC ACLs. (Range: 1-16 chara cters)
IP DSCP – A DSCP value conta ined in an IPv4 packet. (R ange: 0-6 3)
