Command Usage
Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) has been re placed in IP v6 with th e
Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP). The
ipv6 neighbor
command is similar
to the
mac-address-table static
command (page 31-1) that is implemented
using ARP.
Static entries can only be configured on an IP v6-ena bled interface .
The router does not determine whether a static en try is reac hable before
placing it in the IPv6 neighbor discovery cache.
If the specified entry was dynam ically le arned t hrough the IPv 6 ne ighb or
discovery process, and already exists in the neighbor disco very cache, it is
converted to a static entry. Static entries in the IPv6 neighbor discovery cache
are not modified if subsequently detected by the n eighbor disc overy pro cess.
Disabling IPv6 on an interface with the no ipv6 enable command (see
page 41-7) deletes all dynamically learned entries in the IPv6 n eighbor
discovery cache for that interface, but does not delete static entries.

ipv6 nd dad attempts
This command configures the number of consecutive neighbor solic itation
messages sent on an interface during duplicate address detection. Use the
no
form
to restore the default setting.
Syntax
ipv6 nd dad attempts count
no ipv6 nd dad attempts
count - The number of neighbor solicitation messages sent to determine
whether or not a duplicate address exists on this interface. (Range: 0-600)
