- When a non-default value is configured, the specif ied inter val is used both for
router advertisements and by the router itself.
Current Neighbor Cache Table
IPv6 Address – IPv6 address of neighb or d evic e.
Age – The time sin ce the address was ver ified as reacha ble ( in min utes). A static
entry is indicated by the value “Permanent.”
Link-layer Address – Physical la yer MAC ad dress.
State – The current state for an entry.
The following states are used for dynamic entries:
- INCMP (Incomplete) - Address resolution is being carried out on t he entry.
A neighbor solicitation message has been sent to the m ulticast address of the
target, but it has not yet returned a neighbor advertisement message.
- REACH (Reachable) - Positive confirmation was rece ived withi n the last
ReachableTime interval that the forward path to the neighbor was functioning.
While in REACH state, the device takes no special action when sending packets.
- STALE - More than the ReachableTime in terv al has ela psed si nce the last
positive confirmation was received that the forward path wa s fun ctioning. While
in STALE state, the device takes no acti on until a pa cket is sent.
- DELAY - More than the ReachableTime interval has ela psed sinc e the last
positive confirmation was received that the forward path was functioning. A
packet was sent within the last DELAY_FIRST_PROBE_TIME interval. If no
reachability confirmation is received within this interval after entering the DELAY
state, the switch will send a neighbor solicitation message an d ch ang e the s tate
to PROBE.
- PROBE - A reachability confirmation is actively sought by res ending nei ghbor
solicitation messages every RetransTimer interval until confirmation of
reachability is received.
- ???? - Unknown state.
The following states are used for static entries:
- INCMP (Incomplete) -The interface for this entr y is down.
- REACH (Reachable) - The interface for this entry is up. Reac hability dete ction
is not applied to static entries in the IPv6 neighbor discove ry cache.
VLAN – VLAN interface from which t he addre ss wa s re ached .
Adding Static Neighbors (IPv6 Neighbor -- Add)
IPv6 Address – The IPv6 address of a neighbor device that can be reac hed
through one of the network interfaces configured on this switch. You can specify
either a link-local or global unicast address formatted according to RFC 2373 “IPv6
Addressing Architecture,” using 8 colon-separated 16-bit hexadecimal values. One
double colon may be used in the address to indicate the appropriate number of
zeros required to fill the undefined fields.
VLAN – VLAN ID (Range: 1-4 093 )
Hardware Address
– The 48-bit MAC layer address for the neighbor device. This
address must be formatted as six hexadecimal pairs separated by hyph ens.
