Seismic Considerations
To secure a Cisco-supplied cabinet, hole s in the upper and lower corners ac commodate 3/8" or 1/2" bolts.
Also, an optional stability pl ate can be purchased with the Cisco cabinet. The stability plate i s bolted to
the floor, then the Cisco cabinet is bo lt ed to t he stability plate. Instructi ons f o r in stal li ng t he stability

Seismic Anchoring for a Cisco Rack
This section describes how to in s ta ll th e Cisco cabinet with the o p tio n al stability plate for se ism i c
anchoring.
To set up the Cisco cabinet w i th th e stability plate, pe r f or m t h e f ol low in g :
Step 1 Use the dimensions in Figure3-1 to drill the holes f or i ns t all in g th e s t ab il ity plate.
Step 2 Remove the stability plate from th e ba s e o f th e Ci s co cab i net . S ave t h ese n uts and bolts.
Step 3 With the user-provided anc ho r ing bolts, attach the stability plate to t he f l o or.
Step 4 Roll the Cisco cabinet over the s t ab il ity p late as Figure 3-2 illustrates.
Step 5 Use the nuts and bolts from th e sh ipping setup to secure the cab in et to t he stability plate.
