Service Resource Module
This section describes how to u se t he fe at ur es o f th e T3 ver sio n o f th e S er v ic e R esource Module
(MGX-SRM-3T3/C). This multipurpose card can provide:
•Demultiplexing of T3 servic e called bulk distribution .
•1:N redundancy support for service modules with T1 or E1 lines.
•Bit error rate testing (BERT) for T3, E3, T1, E1, fractional T1, or subrate operation with loopback
pattern generation a nd verification on individu al lines or logical po rt. For a description o f the BERT
functions, see the section titled “Bi t E rror Rate Testing Through an M GX-SRM-3T3.”
One SRM acts as the active SRM w hi le th e o t he r i s i n s t an d by:
•The SRM in slot 7 is always cont ro ll ed by th e P X M in slo t 1
•The SRM in slot 14 is always controlled by the PXM in slot 2.
•The SRM is active or standby accordi ng t o th e st ate of the corresponding PXM.
