AC and DC Power Subsystems
A router ships as either an AC or DC powered system. Source power connects to power distribution units (PDUs) on the back of the chassis which route power to the power supplies, also referred to as power entry modules (PEMs).

An AC powered router consists of two AC PDUs and AC PEMs. AC power to the router is provided through power cords connected from AC power outlets to the PDUs on the chassis rear panel as shown in Figure
