2Slide the module down into the slot in the fan cage until the release tabs lock into place. See Figure 3-24.

3Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 86.

4Place the system upright and on its feet on a flat, stable surface.

5Rotate the system feet outward.

6Reattach any peripherals, then connect the system to the electrical outlet.

7Turn on the system and attached peripherals.

Fan Cage

Removing the Fan Cage

WARNING: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. Before you begin this procedure, review the safety instructions that came with the system.

WARNING: The cooling fans can continue to spin for some time after the system has been powered down. Allow time for the fans to stop spinning before handling them.

CAUTION: The system requires at minimum a cooling-fan module to be installed in the outer fan-module slot of the fan cage (see Figure 3-24) at all times to ensure proper system cooling.

1Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and peripherals.

2Rotate the system feet inward and lay the system on a flat surface.

3Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 85.

4Remove the cooling shroud. See "Removing the Cooling Shroud" on page 87.

5Remove the fan modules. See "Removing a Cooling-Fan Module" on page 136.

6Press the fan cage release tab in the direction of the arrow to unlatch it.

7Slide up the fan cage out of the slot on the chassis.
