Procedure

XTo send a command, bit 7 must be toggled, i.e. set either from 1 to 0 or from 0 to 1.

XThen poll the toggle bit for the coupling modules response until it has the same status as the toggle bit sent. This status indicates to the master that the response to the sent command is valid.

XDo not send a new command until you have received a response (changing of the toggle bit), otherwise the response of the previous command will be overwritten before it can be read.

In order to use input/output data and control commands simultaneously:

Only after the “Control commands” data exchange has been completed, will the I/O data be refreshed.

All specified commands and parameters must be transferred in hexadecimal format.

The following tables show the different control commands possible. These essential control commands fall into three essential categories – real-time clock, image and function blocks.
