You may configure the number of printer ports on the M24SII-V02 parallel module to be 0 to 4. If you will be connecting any printers to this module, the printers would physically connect to the higher numbered ports. For example, if you will be connecting 2 parallel printers to a M24SII-V02 high speed parallel module, you would attach the printers to Port 3 and Port 4 of that module.

Factory default configuration for Number of Printers is 0.

To select a specific port in multiple printer applications or when computer-to-computer communications is desired, the computer sends the Port Select Code (which consists of any ASCII character string up to eight characters), the desired module number (1 to 6), the desired port number (1 to 4), and a terminating character: 0D Hex (Enter/Return) or 0A Hex (Line Feed). We will refer to this entire string of characters as the port select sequence.

For example, if you are using the factory default Port Select Code ($SELECT) and you wish to select a printer connected to Port 2 of Module 4, you would need to send the following port select sequence: $SELECT42<Enter/Return> or $SELECT42<Line Feed>.

The port select sequence is trapped by the Model 24SII DES if valid and not passed to the selected peripheral or computer.

The port select sequence may be sent as a separate ASCII file ￿￿preceding the print job, via DOS batch file(s), as part of a printer initialization string, or by using the RAMEXEC hot key software.
