Customer Needs Assessment
Evaluate the Existing Network Environment
Remote Connections
Which locations provide remote access to the network? How many routers or VPN gateways are configured to provide this remote access? Where are these routers and VPN gateways installed on the network?
Subnets and VLANs
For each network segment, record the subnet address.
Are you using static virtual local area networks (VLANs)? If yes, please note which switches and APs support these VLANs.
Are you using dynamic VLANs? If yes, are you using IDM? Again, please note the switches and APs that support the dynamic VLANs?
Routing Information
Is your network traffic routed? Are there multiple levels of routing? Is your network layer 2 switching only?
What are the route points on the network? How do you divide them? What routing protocols (such as Open Shortest Path First [OSPF] or Routing Infor- mation Protocol [RIP]) are in use? Which types of devices are routing: tradi- tional routers, routing switches, or servers?
DCHP Servers
What type of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers are on the network? How many servers are you using? List the switches to which these servers are attached.
If the DHCP servers are connected to the core switch, are there any available ports to connect the NAC 800?
How many DHCP scopes are you using?
