Addendum to the ProCurve Access Control Security Design Guide

Microsoft NAP

Figure A-3. NAP Architecture

The components of the NAP platform consist of conventional network resources and NAP-specific components:

NAP client

The NAP client is a NAP-capable endpoint. The necessary components, which are described later, are included with Windows Vista and Windows XP (SP3).

NAP enforcement point

A NAP enforcement point can be a DHCP server; a VPN server; an IEEE 802.1X-enabled switch or access point (AP); or a health registration authority (HRA), which is a Windows Server 2008 with Internet Informa- tion Services (IIS). The VPN and DHCP enforcement points must run on a Windows Server 2008 as well.
