Overview

Printers draw according to instructions issued from a “host” com- puter. Every printer is engineered to understand a specific set of instructions and to execute each instruction in a precise manner. In addition, most printers are designed to execute predetermined characters automatically without a specific line-by-line instruction from the program. These characters are part of the printer’s permanent memory.
