NOTE
:
Do not use carbonless paper or tracing paper. These
types of paper are unstable at the fusing temperature and can
give o ff fu mes, or cause damag e to th e pr inte r.

Loading Paper

Proper paper loading helps prevent paper jams and ensures
trouble-free printing. Do not remo ve the paper tray while a job
is printing. D oing so may cause a paper jam. See “Sizes and
Capacities” on page 4.1 for acceptable paper capacities for
each tr a y.
CAUTION
: This printer does not spport transparencies.

Using Tray1

Load the pr int material you use for th e majority of y o u r print
job s in Tra y1.
Tray1 can hold a maximum of 250 sheets of plain A4 or letter-
size d paper.
You can purchase an optional tray, Tray2, and attach it below
Tray1, to load an additional 500 sheets of paper. See 9.1 for
more information about installing the optional Tray2.
To load paper, pull the tra y an d th e load th e p a p e r
with the
print side up
.

:
If you experience problems with paper feed, place one
sheet at a tim e in the M u lti-purpose Tray.

Using the Optional Tray

The optional tray, Tray2, can hold a maximum of 500 sheets of
plain paper.
To load paper in Tray2, follow the instructions for loading paper
on page 2.4.

Using the Multi-purpose Tray

The Multi-purpose Tray is located on the right side of your
printer. It can be closed when not in use, making the printer
more compact.
The Multi-purpose Tray can hold sever al sizes and type s of
material, such as cards and envelope s. You may also want to
use the Multi-purpose Tray for single page print jobs on
letterhead, colored paper for use as separator sheets, or other
special materials that you do not normally keep in the paper
tra y. Y ou can load ap proximate ly 100 sheets of plain paper, 10
env e lop es, 10 sh e ets of car d stock , or 1 0 lab els at a ti m e.
Load on ly one siz e of p rint m aterial at a time in the
Multi -purpose Tray.
To preve n t p aper jams, do not add paper w h en th ere is stil l
paper in the Multi-purpose Tray. This also applies to other
types o f print materials.
Print materials should be loaded face down with the top edge
going into th e M u lti- pu r p o s e Tray fi rst, and be placed in the
center o f th e tray.
