Clearing Paper Jams

NOTE
: When remov in g p ap e r that i s ja mmed in th e p rin ter, if
possible alwa ys pull the paper in the direction that it normally
move s so as n ot to damag e intern al co mp on e nts. Alway s p ull
firmly and evenly; do not jerk the paper. If the paper tears,
ensure that all fragments of paper are removed; otherwise a
jam will occur again.
When a paper jam occurs, a lamp turns on at the corresponding
location on the Status map of the control panel. If you use the
CLP-600N, the display on the control panel also tells you where
the pa per ja m h as occurred. R efer to the table be low to loca te
the paper jam and to clear it:
To resume printing after clearing paper jams, you must open
and close the access door.

In the Paper Feed Area

If paper is jammed in the paper feed area, a lamp turns on at
the corresponding location on the Status map. If you use the
CLP-600N, “Jam0 In Tray1” also appears on the display.

Using the handle, completely open the access door.

Carefully remove the paper by pulling in the direction as
shown below. Go to step 6.
If yo u can n o t find th e jammed p ap er, or if there is any
resistance removing the paper, stop pulling, and go to step
3.
CAUTION
:
Do not touch the green surface, the OPC drum, on the front
of each toner cartridge with your hands or any other
material. Use the handle on each cartridge in order to avoid
touching this area.
Be care ful not to scratch the sur face o f the p ap e r tr an sfe r
belt.
If yo u leave th e access do or op en fo r more than a fe w
minutes, the OPC drum can be exposed to light. This will
cause damage to the OPC drum. Close the access door
should the insta llation ne e d to be halted for any reason.
