You can set the T10000 write protect switch so that the cartridge is read-only (nothing can be written on the tape). Slide the switch (FIGURE 5-13) to the write protect position. In this position, the drive can only read data from the tape and can not write data.

Setting the LTO Ultrium Write Protect Switch to Read-Only

You can set the LTO Ultrium write protect switch so that the cartridge is read-only (nothing can be written on the tape). Slide the switch (FIGURE 5-14) so that the “closed lock” is revealed. In this position, the drive can only read data from the tape and can not write data to it.

Setting the LTO Ultrium Write Protect Switch to Read/Write

You can set the LTO Ultrium write protect switch so that the cartridge is write-enabled. Slide the switch (FIGURE 5-14) so that the “open lock” is revealed. In this position, the drive can write as well as read data. This setting is recommended when you enter cartridges into the library.
