4: Printer Settings and Adjustments

Printing Preferences

Printing options allows the user to select the card orientation (portrait or landscape), to print on both sides of the card, to rotate the card 180 degrees, and to specify the number of copies to print. If you modify any of these settings, click the Apply button before printing a test card. The Test Print button prints a test card; see Printing a Test Card on page 51.

Ribbon info and options:

-Ribbon type shows the type of ribbon (color or monochrome) installed in the printer.

-Ribbon combination allows you to select the combination of panels to be printed on each side.

-Depending on the ribbon type installed, the Front and Back buttons let you set options for:

Laminator info and options shows the user if the Laminator option is installed (and if so whether it is Single or Dual sided), whether Top Laminate and/or Bottom Laminate is installed (and if so what type it is), and allows the user to change the Lamination mode on a per-job basis.

The Lamination modes are as follows:

-Default: Operates as configured. Card Destination must be set to Output Hopper.

-Top: Set if both the top and bottom laminates are installed, and you only want to laminate the top.

-Bottom: Set if both the top and bottom laminates are installed, and you only want to laminate the bottom.

-Top and Bottom: Set if both the top and bottom laminates are to be used.

-Pass-through: Allows a card to pass through the laminator without having laminate applied. Note that the laminate must be removed from the laminator for this option to work.

-Any: Set if the laminate, currently installed in the printer (top only, bottom only, top and bottom, or none), is to be used.

-Laminate only can be used to laminate pre-printed cards. This is a special-purpose function that is enabled when the Lamination mode is set to Top, Bottom, or Top and bottom and the Card destination is set to Output hopper. When this option is selected, the card is passed from the input hopper, through the printer without being printed, to the laminator for lamination, then to the output hopper.

If the laminate installed does not match the Lamination mode, then a Lamination Mode Mismatch error will occur. To resolve the error, either the laminate will need to be installed/removed; or the Lamination mode will need to be changed.
