TROUBLESHOOTING STATUS MESSAGES
Warning/Status
Message Description
OVN COLD Thiswarning message indicates that the 100 MHz
Crystaloven (or the 10 MHz Crystal oven if Option 16 is
installed)has not reached operating temperature.
Normallydisplayed during a cold start of the signal
generator.If the message is displayed during normal
operation,it could indicate a malfunction. Run self-test
toverify.
UNLEVELED Displayedwhen the RF output goes unleveled. Normally
causedby exceeding the specified leveled-power rating.
Reducingthe power level usually clears the warning
message.
Ifthe warning message is displayed only when AM is
selectedON, the modulating signal may be driving the
RFoutput unleveled. Reducing the modulating signal or
adjustingthe power level usually clears the warning.
UNLOCKED WhenUnlocked/Narrow FM or Unlocked/Wide FM is
selectedON, this warning message appears indicating
thatthe instrument is not phase-locked during this FM
modeof operation.
Reduce Rate Thiswarning message is displayed when the AM Rate
orFM Rate is set >100 kHz for a non-sinewave
modulatingwaveform. Amplitude or frequency
modulationof the output signal will continue but the
modulatingwaveform may be distorted.
EXT REF Thisstatus message indicates that an external 10 MHz
signalis being used as the reference signal for the
682XXB/683XXB.
OFFSET Thisstatus message indicates that a constant (offset)
hasbeen applied to the displayed power level.
SLOPE Thisstatus message indicates that a power slope
correctionhas been applied to the ALC.
USER 1...5 Thisstatus message indicates that a user level flatness
correctionpower-offset table has been applied to the
ALC.
SS MODE Thisstatus message indicates that the 682XXB/683XXB
hasbeen placed in a source lock mode for operation
witha 360B Vector Network Analyzer.
