Setting Ring Delay

The Ring Delay setting determines the number of times the MFC rings before it answers.

1 Press Function , 1 , 2 , 2 .

2Press or to select how many times the line rings before the MFC answers (00–04) and pressSet . If you select 00, the line doesn’t ring at all.

3Press Stop to exit.

Easy Receive

When you use this feature, you don’t have to press Start when you answer a fax call. Selecting ON allows the MFC to receive fax calls automatically, even if you lift the handset of an extension or external phone. When you see RECEIVING on the fax screen or when you hear “chirps” through the handset of an extension phone connected to another wall jack, just replace the handset, and your MFC does the rest. Selecting OFF means you’ll have to activate the MFC yourself, by pressing Hook , then Start to receive. (See Manual Transmission, page 6-5.)— OR—by pressing

5 1 if you are not at your MFC. (See Operation from Extension Telephones, page 5-5.)

If Easy Receive is OFF and an original is in the ADF, press Hook , then Start , then 2 to activate the MFC.

If you’ve set the feature to ON, but your MFC doesn’t automatically connect a fax call when you lift an external or extension phone handset,

press the Fax Receive code

If you send faxes from a computer on the same phone line and the MFC intercepts them, set Easy Receive to OFF.

1 Press Function , 1 , 2 , 3 .

2Use or to select ON or OFF and press Set .

3Press Stop to exit.

Turning on Cassette #2

When CASSETTE #2 is set to ON, you can set paper size, reduction setting and the cassette usage. (See Printing a Reduced Incoming Document, page 5-3 and Setting Paper Size, page 5-3.)

1 Press Function , 1 , 0 , 4 .

2Press or to select ON (or OFF) and press Set .

3Press Stop to exit.
