Installing the Cisco ONS 15501
This chapter describes the installation procedures for the CiscoONS 15501 chassis and its components.

Before beginning any of the procedures in this document:
•Review the Regulatory Compliance and Safety Information for the CiscoONS 15501 document to
avoid injury to yourself or damage to the equipment.
•Ensure that your equipment configuration meets the minimum requirements for the installation you
will perform, and that you have all the parts and tools you need.
Warning
Only trained and qualified personnel should be allowed to install, replace, or service this equipment.

Creating a Site Log

We recommend keeping a site log ( or a section of a larger site l og) to record all actions rel ated to the
CiscoONS 15501. The log should be kept near the chassis where anyone who works on the equipment
can access it. Site log entries might include the following:
•Background information.
•Installation progress.
Make a copy of the “Installation Checklist” section on page 2-2 and insert it into the s ite log. Make
entries on the checklist as you complete each procedure.
•Maintenance proced ures.
