Removing the Fan Assembly

CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. Before performing any procedure, see your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

1Open the system. See "Opening and Closing the System" on page 68.

2Remove the system board shroud. See "Removing the System Board Shroud" on page 71.

3Disconnect the fan connectors on the system board FAN_MOD1 and FAN_MOD2. See Figure 3-10.

4While pulling the two release levers on the fan assembly, lift the fan assembly off of the two securing posts and out of the chassis. See Figure 3-10.
