CONNECTING THE AUTOLOADER TO SCSI

3.Connect a SCSI cable to the host computer and to one of the autoloader’s SCSI connectors. Figure 2-8shows the location of the autoloader’s SCSI connectors.

! Important Do not over-tighten the SCSI cable jack screws.

4.If the autoloader is the last device on the SCSI bus, install a terminator on the unused SCSI connector.

 

 

! Important

Both LTO-2 and LTO-3 SCSI tape drives require an Ultra 3 or

 

LVD 160 terminator to function properly on the SCSI bus. An

 

inadequate terminator will result in various SCSI bus issues,

 

including bus hangs and Read/Write failures.

the wrong terminator.

 

 

Daisy-chaining—If the autoloader is not the last device on the bus, connect another SCSI cable from the autoloader’s SCSI connector to the next device on the bus.

Bus termination—If there are additional devices on the SCSI bus, ensure that only the device at the physical end of the bus is terminated.
