Aligning the Cartridges

The cartridge2alignment system is composed of

DStepper motor

DAdjustment linkage

DAdjustment cam

DAdjustable cartridge chute

DCarriage drive

Operation

The following operation is used to align one cartridge with respect to the other in the X2axis (media axis). (Y2axis and Z2axis realignments are done by varying the firing timing of each nozzle resistor.)

1The stepper motor presses up on the lower link of the three adjustment2linkage pieces by means of the plastic actuator pressed onto the motor shaft.

2This action lowers the top link of the adjustment linkage.

3The carriage moves, and the adjustment cam, which comes into contact with the top link, is rotated.

4The cam action causes the adjustable cartridge chute to move in either the plus or minus X2axis direction relative to the fixed cartridge chute.
