Updating the IEEE 1394 Drivers (Windows 98 SE Only)		En
Before installing Nikon Scan 3 under Windows 98 SE, users of the SUPER COOLSCAN 4000 ED
will need to complete the IEEE 1394 driver update as described below.
1	Holding down the shift key to prevent the Nikon Scan 3 installer from starting automati-
	cally, insert the Nikon Scan 3 CD into the CD-ROM drive (if the installer starts, click Exit to

close the Welcome dialog).

Double-click the My Computer icon.

Click the Nikon Scan 3 CD icon with the right mouse button and select Explore from the menu that appears. Open the “Microsoft” folder and double-click 242975USA8(.exe).

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

5	The dialog shown at right will be displayed
	when installation is complete. Click Yes
	to restart your computer.
6	Once the computer has restarted, click the
	My Computer icon with the right mouse
	button and select Properties from the
	menu that appears.
7	Click the Device Manager tab in the Sys-
	tem Properties dialog and confirm that a
	listing appears for “NEC Firewarden OHCI

Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller,” in- dicating that the update was successful.
