5 PhaserShare Administrator Software for NetWare Networks

NetWare configuration with the PhaserShare Administrator

The PhaserShare Administrator allows you to configure and administer your Tektronix printer and the queues it services, while providing functionality not available with PCONSOLE. The PhaserShare Administrator allows you to control parameters that can be set from PCONSOLE. It also allows you to control the following printer-specific parameters not supported by PCONSOLE:

■Printer connection type

■Frame type

■Queue scan interval

■Configuration file server

■Error notification

■Resetting the printer (Phaser 740 and 360 printers)

■Print server name

■Printer login password

■Banner printing on a per-queue basis

The PhaserShare Administrator is compatible with NetWare 3.x and 4.x.

Installation

System requirements

■A Tektronix color printer equipped with an Ethernet card or a Token Ring card.

■Microsoft Windows 3.1, 3.11 (or later), Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 95 installed on workstations with standard memory. The workstation must be at least an 80286 PC.

■Novell NetWare 2.x, 3.x, and 4.x networks with shells 3.26 or above and IPX version 3.10 or above.

N O T E

To determine your network IPX version, use the NetWare NVER command.

The IPX version is not shown when using the IPXODI ? command.

■Supervisor or equivalent permission on all NetWare 3.x file servers to be configured.

■Administrator or equivalent permission on all NetWare 4.x networks to be configured.
