Chapter 45 System

Vantage CNM (Centralized Network Management) is a browser-based global management tool that allows an administrator to manage ZyXEL devices. Use the System > Vantage CNM screen (see Section 45.11 on page 719) to allow your ZyWALL to be managed by the Vantage CNM server.

Use the System > Language screen (see Section 45.12 on page 722) to set a language for the ZyWALL’s Web Configurator screens.

45.2 Host Name

A host name is the unique name by which a device is known on a network. Click Configuration > System > Host Name to open the Host Name screen.

DESCRIPTION

System Name

Choose a descriptive name to identify your ZyWALL device. This name

 

can be up to 64 alphanumeric characters long. Spaces are not allowed,

 

but dashes (-) underscores (_) and periods (.) are accepted.

 

 

Domain Name

Enter the domain name (if you know it) here. This name is propagated to

 

DHCP clients connected to interfaces with the DHCP server enabled. This

 

name can be up to 254 alphanumeric characters long. Spaces are not

 

allowed, but dashes “-” are accepted.

 

 

Apply

Click Apply to save your changes back to the ZyWALL.

 

 

Reset

Click Reset to return the screen to its last-saved settings.

 

 

45.3 Date and Time

For effective scheduling and logging, the ZyWALL system time must be accurate. The ZyWALL’s Real Time Chip (RTC) keeps track of the time and date. There is also
