Glossary

connected	A communications port has connected status when it is connected to a
port	target system but no Proxy Agent application is currently using the
	connection.
connectivity	The connection of disparate devices within a single system.
control carrier	A carrier that contains the switch processing element (SPE) circuit packs.

D

desktop	The UnixWare screen area that contains windows, icons, and menus.
destructive	An installation process where all existing files and directories are
installation	overwritten.
device driver	A software routine that contains the instructions to operate a peripheral
	device.
disk drive	A mechanical device that stores data on and retrieves data from one or
	more disks.

E

Ethernet	A local area network used for connecting computers, printers,
	workstations, terminals, etc., within the same building.

F

facilities	A general term used for a telecommunications transmission pathways
	and their associated equipment.
Fault	Software that allows you to manage a DEFINITY G3 PBX as a node on
Management	your network.
